The basic idea of having an online chat room generalized from the fact that, speaking with individuals over long distances over the phone was getting very expensive. However, it was important to keep in touch with the various individuals or acquaintances staying away from us. With the availability of the internet, it was easy to develop something that would allow us to communicate with different individuals, over long distances at lesser expense.
