A British national, Cockerell has served as a tour guide into North Korea since 2002, and has worked closely with North Korean counterparts to bring an increasing number of visitors to the DPRK. In turn, Koryo Tours' staff has grown from a mere two to twelve, and the number of annual Western travelers with Koryo Tours has increased from 300 to 3,000 in the last ten years.
